DRIVING TO ASPEN
Please note the following information regarding Glenwood Canyon I-70 and Independence Pass HW-82 Access: Updated Monday, August 24 at 9 AM: I-70 between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum is open. Please plan for lower speed limits, no stopping, rest areas closed, likely closures due to mudslides and other events, and head-to-head traffic detours.
CO 82 over Independence Pass is also open with limited access and alternating traffic. For updates and recommended routes from the Colorado Department of Transportation, please click here.
Guests driving to Aspen from Denver, Colorado Springs, or any destination South of Aspen should be aware that Independence Pass is closed in the winter months, and plan alternative travel routes via I-70 through Glenwood Springs, CO. The Pass generally reopens in late May and stays open until late October, weather permitting. Please click for

Driving to Aspen from Denver is a scenic trip, about 4 hours in the winter months, via I-70 West to Glenwood Springs, and then CO Highway 82 East to Aspen. In the summer months, few drives beat the cherished trip over Independence Pass, a high mountain pass midway between Aspen and Twin Lakes reaching elevation of 12,095 feet at the top of the Continental Divide. Guests dining at The Little Nell's element 47 and Ajax Tavern restaurants, please enjoy two hours of complimentary valet parking, with validation. Hourly valet parking costs $10/hour. Overnight guest parking at The Little Nell is $38 per night.
