Audi Power of Four Ski Mountaineering race

The Audi Power of Four Race Series is a premier endurance race series utilizing the unique and amazing terrain of each of the four Aspen Snowmass mountains. Each race is designed to test the limits and skills of both elite and recreational athletes. The Power of Four Sport Division has a 6:00 AM race start in Snowmass Base Village. The Power of Two Rec Division begins at 8:00 AM at the base of Aspen Highlands.

Register here. Registration is also available before each race at Aspen Expeditions from 5–6 pm. All participating athletes must check-in before each race to pick-up a bib and course details.
The course will be announced at registration prior to each race.

All racers must check-in and pick up bibs between 4 - 8 pm on Friday, February 26th at The Limelight Hotel. Each team member needs to check-in though you do not have to check-in with your teammate. If you cannot make it to the check-in you must email Daragh Kneeshaw at to arrange for pre-race check-in. Note: If you bring your teammate's or friend's completed waiver you may pick-up their bib. Athlete information.
There is an optional pre-race meeting 7:15 pm at The Limelight Hotel. This meeting is recommended for first time racers.

Mandatory Race Gear: Beacon, Shovel, Probe, Helmet, Backpack, Windshell*, Buff/neck gaiter*
* These do not have to be worn at all times. A Course Marshall or Race Official may require you to put either/both on at any time.
Gear Check: Prior to receiving your GPS unit and heading to the start line you and your teammate must undergo a gear check together. Gear checks will begin at 5 am inside the Treehouse at Snowmass Base Village for the Sport Course and 7:15 am at the start area for the Rec Course. Please allow for plenty of time to get through the check.

Aid Stations: This is largely a self-sufficient race; however, we will have two Aid Stations for Sport course participants and one for Recreational course participants. A full Aid Station will be located at Highlands Base Village (~8.5 mi) with water, Electrolyte drink (to fill your bottle or reservoir), Coke, Clif Bars, Clif Shots and Clif Bloks. A second water station will be at the entrance to the Congo Trail (~15.5 mi) after the descent of the Highland Bowl and will have the same items.

Cut-Off Time: There is a 1 pm cut-off at the top of the Congo trail where the course makes its final descent towards Aspen Mountain.

Course Marking:
Green pin flags = uphill
Red pin flags = downhill
red and blue GS panels = downhill
Yellow pin flags = booting
Please note: While you will see a few GS panels near the 'gut' of the Highland Bowl, each team is free to choose their own descent of the Bowl once they reach the Summit. These particular GS panels are to be used as a guide for those less familiar with the area.

Course Rules:
- You must ascend with skins
- You must descend with boots locked into the ski position
- Skis must be attached to a pack in 2 attachment points for all booters
- Skins must be fully tucked into suit/jacket/pack prior to leaving the transition area
- Poles must be flat on the ground during all transitions
- Race officials, checkpoint officials and ski patrol can require racers to put on jackets or buffs at any time
- Teammates must be within 10 seconds of each other on the uphill and 5 seconds of each other on the downhill portions
- A team's finish time will be based on the second person to cross the finish line

Exiting the Race Early:

In the event you do not feel you can complete the race and choose to stop you MUST check-out with the nearest Course Marshall, with ski patrol or at the finish area at the base of the gondola on Aspen Mountain.

Start Times:
Sport Course: 6am at Snowmass Base Village
Recreational Course: 8am at Aspen Highlands Base Village (base of Thunder Bowl)

Dry Bag: Each racer is allowed to have one bag (please provide your own) transported to the Finish Area in Aspen.

Awards & Afterparty:
Following the race, all racers are invited to the after party at the Limelight Hotel from 5:30-8pm for beer, food, a raffle and awards announcements. There will be a brief awards presentation at the finish area shortly following the finish of the top finishers in each category.
