Warm Weather Activities

Aspen does not close when the lifts do. Experience the Power of Four — Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass — 365 days a year. When the snow melts, Aspen offers an abundance of activities and opportunities. Summer here is all about the great outdoors as well as exquisite culture, plentiful dining, sophisticated shopping and a bustling nightlife.

Hot Air Ballooning
See the Roaring Fork Valley in a whole new light.  Soar above the treetops, as you experience the early morning sunrise and jaw-dropping views of the Aspen, Snowmass and surrounding mountain peaks.  Complete your adventure with a champagne flute toast and delicious pastries.

Fly Fishing
Renowned for having Gold Medal waters, the Roaring Fork Valley provides some of the finest fly fishing in America.  From the Frying Pan River, Roaring Fork, Colorado and Crystal Rivers, you can experience everything from a small, intimate stream to a brawling run of the best fishing spots around.  Whether you are an experienced angler or attempting the sport for the first time, our local guides will ensure a memorable experience and countless fish tales.

Golf
Award-winning architect Jim Engh's unique design of the Snowmass Club Golf Course pays tribute to the rugged heritage of ranching families that rooted here over the last century. This 7,008 yard course features an undulating landscape with seven different grasses including bent greens, blue grass fairways and native Colorado mix, creating a one-of-a-kind "Irish links course with mountain flair". Our PGA-certified golf professionals, caddies, practice area and full service golf offer plenty of opportunity to improve your game, or keep up with the latest equipment.

Hiking
With over 1,000 trails in the Aspen/Snowmass area ranging from beginner to advance, your map will serve as the gateway to some of Colorado’s best alpine hiking trails.  These hiking excursions will take guests through meadows of wild flowers, along winding rivers and over geological landmarks.  Take advantage of learning more about the flora, fauna and geology of our area by indulging in a guided tour of the Maroon Bells and Crater Lake.

Horseback Riding
With awe-inspiring views of Mount Daly and the Elk Mountain Range, explore the wilderness by horseback and enjoy the nature that surrounds you.  From real cattle drives to jumping and dressage events, there are a number of options available for both beginning and experienced riders.

Jeep Tours
Sit back and enjoy an off-road tour into Aspen’s stunningly beautiful mountains. Travel where few people have the opportunity to explore in a comfortable 4 Wheel Drive Jeep. Enjoy the aromatic forests of Aspen and Pine as you climb to wildflower-carpeted high alpine meadows where the views seem to go on forever.

Mountain Biking & Road Cycling
Whether you wish to mountain bike, road bike or just cruise around town, miles of trails await novice to expert riders, from gentle roads to challenging single track.  From beginner to advanced or scenic tours to hard-core single-track, you can find your ride here!

Whitewater Rafting & Kayaking
The most popular activity for both visitors and locals alike, whitewater rafting offers everything from the lazy float to the thrill of wild whitewater.  Full and half-day trips allow you to discover varying degrees of remoteness, difficulty and breath-taking scenery.  With over 400 inches of snowfall this winter, you will experience an epic adventure that will be recounted for years to come.
