New five day adventure package and whiskey-themed whitewater fly fishing trip on tap

Aspen, Colorado (May 16, 2013) – For The Little Nell’s most adventurous guests, the new Aspen Adrenaline Package includes five days of Aspen’s most exhilarating experiences. Carefully curated by the hotel’s adventure shop at the base of Aspen Mountain, the package includes:

  • Day 1: Fly fishing on the Roaring Fork River;
  • Day 2: ½ day private guided downhill mountain biking experience at Snowmass;
  • Day 3: Tandem paragliding off Aspen Mountain with a champagne brunch served in the paragliding landing zone, followed by a half day of rock climbing and rappelling on Independence Pass;
  • Day 4: ½ day whitewater rafting trip on the Roaring Fork, Arkansas or Colorado River;
  • Day 5: ½ day guided hike to American Lake.

The Little Nell is also proud to offer adventure for the body and “spirits” – with the addition of a new whiskey-themed package that includes a whitewater fly fishing trip to a distillery, followed by a Colorado whiskey pairing dinner.

The Whiskey Fly Experience includes a rafting trip for two down the Roaring Fork River with a professional fly fishing guide. After several hours of riding the waves and casting flies, guests arrive at the doorstep of Woody Creek Distillers in nearby Basalt. The new distillery offers tastings of its vodka and other hand-crafted products. That evening guests are treated to a Whiskey Pairing Dinner at the hotel’s new restaurant element 47 with courses like whiskey bread pudding. For those who do not wish to drink or for those under 21, the trip can alternately include a trip to Rock Bottom Ranch – a working ranch located on the banks of the Roaring Fork River – followed by local, Colorado cuisine at the restaurant.

To prepare for the hotel’s fishing trips, guests can partake in Complimentary Casting Lessons offered at the Adventure Shop Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-6 p.m., featuring beer and appetizers. Complimentary Guided hikes will also be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4 p.m.

Other offerings from The Nell’s Adventure Shop include mountain climbing Colorado’s majestic peaks (“peak bagging” as the locals call it); women’s  and kids’ fly fishing clinics; road biking; geocaching and scenic fall leaf-peeping flights over the Rocky Mountains. The kids’ program is also being expanded this year to include disc golf, whitewater rafting, a ropes course, rock climbing and more.

All Little Nell Adventures may be accompanied by gourmet lunches packed by the hotel’s executive chef, with wines paired by the master sommelier. Additionally, some trout caught during fly fishing excursions may be prepared in the great outdoors by the chef, or served to anglers that evening in element 47 at The Little Nell.
